The Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh said, teachers and education workers in Ghana deserve great commendation for their valiant roles in facilitating teaching and learning in Ghana’s educational institutions.

According to Dr. Prempeh, teachers spend much time with school children while parents are busy at work. They turn to be care takers and play the roles of a parent in the school more than what some parents do at home. Teaching is not an easy profession and teachers must be praise.

“The teacher spends 8-10 hours with your child whiles you are busy at work. It is not an easy job. This is the time to show appreciation to every teacher. This is the time that when school finally re-opens you make time to go and visit your child class teacher.” He explained

“I wish to salute all Ghanaian workers for their hard work over the years in keeping this country going. In particular, our teachers and education workers deserve great commendation for their valiant roles in facilitating teaching and learning.” He praised.

The Education Minister further explained that, the Corona virus pandemic which led to the closure of all educational institutions in Ghana has proved the value and importance of Ghanaian teachers and many parents struggle to control their children at home. “The Covid-19 pandemic which has led to the shut down of our schools has highlighted the value of our teachers as many parents continue to wrestle with the challenges of children being home all the time.” Dr. Prempeh revealed.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh also called on all Ghanaians especially students, teachers and education workers to continue to observe social distance and follow the necessary hygiene protocols.
