It is rumored that a Comprehensive Sexuality Education will be introduced into the basic school curriculum. Education Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has said the government has not approved the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) document for use by teachers in basic schools.
“The Ministry would like to state categorically that the curriculum framework for KG-P6 that has been approved by Cabinet from the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment [NaCCA] for use in the development of school curricula and published on NaCCA website does not include anything on Comprehensive Sexuality Education,” the Minister said at a press conference on Tuesday.
At the press conference Tuesday, the Minister maintained the National Council for Curriculum Assessment has also not submitted to the Ministry any document relating to the CSE which has invoked strong public judgments.
However, there appears to be discrepancies in the press statement of the Ministry as traces of CSE is already found in the Teacher Resource Pack.
Comprehensive Sexuality Education seeks to equip the learners to know and experience their sexuality. It is yet to be known if CSE will be implemented next year or withdrawn
