YouTube will be introducing handles to make it easier for members to find and connect with each other. Your handle will be unique to your channel and will be how people mention you in comments and community posts just like on social media platforms.
The great search engine will be gradually rolling out the ability to choose a handle for all channels over the coming weeks. If you already have a personalized URL for your channel, it will be reserved for you as your handle. If you want a different handle from the one reserved for you, you can change it. If you don’t already have a personalized URL today, you’ll also be able to choose a handle for your channel.
Your handle will become part of your channel URL. For example, if your chosen handle is @mickinetsystems then your channel URL will be youtube.com/@mickinetsystems. This is far better than the long cluttered channel URL used for new users who do not have enough subscribers in order to personalize their channel URL. You can use your handle to direct people to your channel and you can also be tagged in videos
From November 14, 2022, if you haven’t yet selected a handle for your channel, YouTube will automatically assign you a handle, which you can change in YouTube Studio if you like.
