Notice from GES: No exam at the basic school this term

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed that there should be no end of term examinations at the basic school level (KG-JHS) this term.

In an official document to all Regional Directors of Education and received by the Mickinet Systems team, management of GES has indicated that head teachers and teachers should use class exercises and class test as a means of assessing the students/pupils.

“Management wishes to inform all heads of schools that there should not be any end of term examinations at the Basic School level (KG-JHS). Head teachers and teachers are to use class exercises and class test to assess students/pupils”

Also, GES has directed teachers to organize recovery learning for students/pupils from Kindergarten to Junior High level. This is due to the shutdown of schools as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic causing a huge loss of instructional time. The recovery lessons are meant to supplement and enable students regain the lost instructional time.

It further informed all District Directors and School Heads that the existing arrangement of stationary use at the District Offices, which is to be deducted from the school’s capitation grant allocation remains in force.
